About Andover museum
Arranged on the River Anton, a tributary of the Test, the memorable market town of Andover flaunts two galleries in a similar building. Andover Museum, recounting the narrative of the town and encompassing region, opened in 1981, and it was participated in 1986 by the Museum of the Iron Age, which recounts the account of close-by Danebury hillfort. The exhibition hall building began life as a Georgian townhouse in the mid eighteenth century. Proof of this can be found in the fine staircase, wooden framing and beautifying chimneys. In the 1840s, the building was bought by neighborhood altruist Martha Gale who skilled it to Andover Grammar School.
Beginning on the ground floor, the exhibitions uncover the significance of the nearby geography and normal history of the territory, the immeasurably vital chalk streams and the bounty of rock, used to frame stone apparatuses. The principal floor exhibitions proceed with the story, beginning in the Neolithic period and completing with Andover in the twentieth century. Enroute, find out about the causes of Andover, its illustrious associations, its improvement through the medieval period and its notoriety for being an uproar town amid the Industrial Revolution.
