About Torez
Torez is a city of local centrality in Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine. A great part of the city's economy depends on mining ventures, in spite of an ongoing drop in the quantity of utilized excavators. In 2012, the city's populace was 81,761, down from a 1970 pinnacle of around 120,000. Professional Russian separatists assumed responsibility for Torez in June 2014. On July 17, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 smashed close to the city. Torez was renamed from Chystyakove in 1964 to pay tribute to French Communist Party pioneer Maurice Thorez, who kicked the bucket that year.
The Verkhovna Rada albeit Ukrainian experts have no influence over the city, renamed it back to Chystyakove in May 2016 because of Ukrainian decommunization laws. The area was settled in 1778 at the juncture of the Sevostyanivka and Orlova Rivers which channel into the Mius River by out of control serfs from southern Russia and Ukraine. By 1800 the settlement, with 225 occupants, was known as Slobodan Alekseevka after a child of landowner and organizer S. Leonov.
