Ternopil is a city in western Ukraine, located at the banks of the Seret River. Until 1944, it becomes recognized in the main as Ternopol. Ternopil is one of the predominant cities of Western Ukraine and the ancient areas of Galicia and Podolia. It is served by way of Ternopil Airport. The population of Ternopil is 217,800. The city became founded in 1540 via Polish commander and Hetman Jan Amor Tarnow ski as an army stronghold and fortress. On 15 April 1540 the King of Poland Sigismund in Cracow passed Tarnow ski permission for the established order of Ternopol settlement within the place of Sopilcze.
