About Pyatnytska Church
Pyatnytska church is a functioning church in Chernihiv, Ukraine. Pyatnytska church was constructed on the end of the 12th century beginning of the 13th century at Chernihiv auction place. It is the 4 pillar, one dome and rectangular church. It differed from different Chernihiv churches by final touch and ornament of the facades with all kinds of architectural adorns and by means of composition of arches below the drum. It was restored in 1670 and 1690s via expenses of Chernihiv colonel V. Dunyn Borkovskyi within the Ukrainian baroque fashion. In the 17th to 18th centuries there was a nunnery inside the church, which was burned out in 1750.
In 1820s a storeyed belfry was constructed, which changed into dismantled in 1962. In 1943 the church became destroyed. It was restored in 1962 in line with the task of Petro Baranovskyi in really changed fashion just like Russian churches. The destiny of this monument is uncommon. A small Pyatnytska church stood on the general public sale vicinity of Chernigiv.
