About Khreschatyk Street

Khreshchatyk is the principle avenue of Kyiv, Ukraine. The road has a length of 1.2 km. It stretches from the European Square through the Maidan and to Bessarabska Square where the Besarabsky Market is placed. Along the road are the places of work of the Kiev City Council which includes both the town's council and the state administration, the Main Post Office, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the State Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting, the Central Department Store, the Ukrainian House, and others. The complete avenue was completely destroyed during World War II by using the taking flight Red Army troops and rebuilt inside the neo-classical fashion of submit-conflict Stalinist architecture.

Among outstanding buildings that did not live to tell the tale have been the Kiev City Duma, the Kiev Stock Exchange, Hotel Natsional, and the Ginzburg House. The street has been considerably renovated during the modern-day duration of Ukraine's independence. Today, the street is still big to administrative and commercial enterprise metropolis companies, as well as a popular tourist attraction. As of 2010, Khreshchatyk is covered within the Top 20 of maximum costly buying streets in Europe.
