Dormition Cathedral

The Assumption or Dormition Cathedral in Kharkiv, Ukraine stands on the University Hill by the bank of the Lopan River. The first Dormition Church was worked in the Kharkov Fortress in the 1680s. It was totally modified after a fire to a Late Baroque outline approximately in view of St Clement's Church, Moscow. The house of prayer was blessed in 1780 within the sight of an emissary Pyotr Rumyantsev. The congregation bragged a plated symbol screen, cut from limewood to Rastrelli's Rococo plan. It was the fundamental Orthodox church of Kharkov, Russian Empire display day Kharkiv, Ukraine until the development of the Annunciation Cathedral in 1901. The unattached Alexander Bell Tower was worked in the result of Napoleon's ejection from Russia "to offer the general population's thanks to Alexander I". It used to be the second tallest working in Ukraine after the Great Lavra Bell Tower. The seat of the nearby cleric was moved from the more seasoned Intercession Cathedral to the Dormition Church in 1846. A substantial French check was introduced in the ringer tower in 1856.
