About Chernihiv
Chernihiv also known as Chernigov is an ancient metropolis in northern Ukraine, which serves as the place of job of the Chernihiv Oblast as well as of the surrounding Chernihiv Raion within the oblast. Administratively, its miles included as a metropolis of oblast importance. Chernihiv turned into first mentioned inside the Rus Byzantine Treaty but the time of establishment is not recognized. According to the items uncovered through archaeological excavations of a settlement which protected artifacts from the Khazar Khaganate, it appears to have existed at least in the 9th century.
Towards the end of the 10th century, the town probably had its own rulers. It was there that the Black Grave, considered one of the largest and earliest royal mounds in Eastern Europe and was excavated in the 19th century. In the southern portion of the Kievan Rus' the town turned into the second by using importance and wealth. From the early 11th century it became the seat of powerful Grand Principality of Chernigov, whose rulers at times vied for power with Kievan Grand Princes and often overthrew them and took the primary seat in Kiev for themselves.
