About Aivazovsky National Art Gallery
The Aivazovsky National Art Gallery is a countrywide art museum in Feodosia, Crimea. The first exhibition turned into privately organised by means of Ivan Aivazovsky's in his residence in 1845. The foundation collection protected his 49 art work. In 1880 an extra exhibition hall become attached to the house. The gallery became the 1/3 museum within the Russian Empire, after the Hermitage Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery. After Aivazovsky's loss of life in 1900, the possession of the gallery became transferred to the town in line with his testament.
Towards the quit of 1920, the house became occupied through the Feodosia branch of Cheka. Several artwork were damaged at that point. Since 1922, the gallery have become a state museum in the USSR.
