About Spil Mountain National Park
The park is known for its historic and mythological points, as well as a huge style of vegetation and fauna. Cavernous formations within the place have resulted in lots of canyons, caves and steep valleys. The foremost species of trees right here include pine, juniper, poplar, walnut, elm and oak, 20 of which have been determined in medical studies as endangered. Also located in this location are the Manisa tulips, which gave their name to a period of the Ottoman Empire and had been taken to Europe. Species of wildlife residing within the park consist of bears, jackals, roe deer, foxes, badgers, wild goats, vultures and eagles, and there's also a pheasant manufacturing farm.
The park is rich in records with many myths connected to the region. According to one, the mountain was named after Cybele, the wife of god Cronos, and there may be a relief of her carved into the rocks in Akpinar. But any other account states that the mountain was named after Spilos, the daughter of Friesian king Menos, who were kidnapped and changed into left on the mountain and taken up by means of wild animals. Tantalos, the king of Lydia, constructed a fortress here and to rejoice he sacrificed his son to the gods, for which he was later punished.
