Sarkoy

Sarkoy is an ocean side town and locale of Tekirdag Province arranged on the north shoreline of the Marmara Sea in Thrace in Turkey. Sarkoy is 86 km west of the town of Tekirdag, and can be come to either by the inland street or by the winding coast street, which goes ahead to Gallipoli. The leader is Suleyman Altinok. Stone-age weapons and actualizes have been found in the towns of Kizilca Terzi, Fener Karadutlar and Sofukoy.

Bronze Age ancient rarities from 1200BC have been found in Igde Bagları, showing that mining occurred here and furthermore that there were exchanging joins among Thrace and the Aegean drift. Greek states were established from 750 to 550 BC with the assention of the nearby Thracians. The Greek towns of Heraklea, Chora, Ganos, Byzanthe-Panion later fell under the control of the Romans. At that point under Byzantine guideline Thrace was liable to wave on wave of intruders coming by means of the Balkans; Huns, Slavs, Bulgars, the Crusaders.

At this point the zone was known as Tristatis, Peristasis and furthermore Agora. Following the Ottoman attack in 1362 the name of the city moved toward becoming 'Sehirkoy' and later 'Sarkoy'. The region was first attacked in 1356 by Suleyman Pasa, child of Orhangazi, the child of the organizer of the Ottoman administration. It changed control a couple of times before going under Ottoman control in 1362, and forever after the fall of Constantinople, now Istanbul, in 1453.
