About Malkara
Malkara is a town and region of Tekirdag Province in the Marmara district of Turkey. It is situated at 55 km west of Tekirdag and 190 km from Istanbul. It covers a region of 1,225 km², which makes the area the biggest in Tekirdag. Populace of the town is 25,000 with another 36,000 living in encompassing towns. The leader is Ulas Yurdakul. Thrace was the scene of battling amid the Persian Wars and the name Malkara is said to originate from the Persian 'Margaar' signifying 'buckle of snakes'.
