About Kaymakli Monastery

Kaymakli Monastery is a destroyed Armenian Apostolic religious community close Trabzon, Turkey. The religious community initially incorporated a congregation, a chime tower at the northwest corner, and a little house of prayer close to the southeast corner. The primary church is rectangular in shape, with three naves and three apses. The primary apse is pentagonal. The establishing date for the congregation isn't clear, however is accepted to have been based on an enduring parts of a 12-thirteenth century Greek church on the site. The first top of the principle church was made of timber and had fallen-in by 1929. In 1961 a substitution rooftop, likewise made of timber, was introduced when the congregation started to be utilized as an animal dwellingplace.

This rooftop is likewise presently gone, and it is indistinct whether the congregation is as of now roofed. There was a narthex or zhamatun at the western end of the congregation, however it has totally vanished. Within the congregation is enlivened with expound frescoes indicating different scriptural scenes. They are accepted to have been painted in the 17th century -18th century. On the west divider is an extensive fresco on three areas portraying the Last Judgment. North-west of the congregation are the remaining parts of a chime tower, when a greatly tall structure. South of the congregation are the remaining parts of a 2-story religious building that had a colonnade with stone sections on the lower floor.
