About Karatas
Karatas is a little city and a locale in Adana Province, on the Mediterranean bank of Turkey, 47 km from the city of Adana, between the streams of Seyhan and Ceyhan, the Pyramos of Antiquity. The city of Karatas has a populace of 8,483 in 2010, with another 13,000 living in encompassing towns. Today Karatas is referred to for its angling industry and as a place that Adana's occupants can without much of a stretch access to unwind on the shoreline.
There are rich farmlands behind the drift where cotton, watermelons, melons and different harvests are developed. The outstanding footballer Hasan Sas is from Karatas and has a road named after him in memory of his astounding execution for Turkey national football group amid the 2002 World Cup.
Spots of intrigue:
- The vestiges of chapels, caravanserai, and an amphitheater. Anyway the old landmarks stay to date in absence of appropriate research or protection.
- The bay of Akyatan is a rearing ground for some winged creatures and the ocean turtle species Chelonia mydas and caretta. Karatas is especially essential for the last mentioned, or, in other words species that lays eggs fundamentally in Akyatan, another shoreline in neighboring Yumurtalik area and Iztuzu Beach in Dalyan in southwestern Turkey.
