About Ipsala
Ipsala is a town and area of Edirne Province in northwestern Turkey. It is the area of one of the fundamental fringe checkpoints among Greece and Turkey. The Greek town inverse Ipsala is Kipoi. The population is 8,332 the city and 30,112 entire region. In Roman and Byzantine occasions, this was the town of Cypsela, which had a place with the Roman region of Rhodope, whose capital and metropolitan see was Traianopolis.
From the 17th century ahead, the ministerial office of Cypsela, at first a suffragan of Traianopolis, shows up in the Notitiae Episcopatuum as an autocephalous archdiocese. Its ministers Georgius and Theophylactus were available separately at the Second Council of Constantinople 553 and the Second Council of Nicaea 787. Stephanus was at both the Council of Constantinople 869 and the Council of Constantinople 879. No longer a private parish, Cypsela is today recorded by the Catholic Church as a main see.
