About House of the Virgin Mary
The House of the Virgin Mary is a Catholic and Muslim altar situated on Mt. Koressos in the region of Ephesus, 7 kilometers from Selcuk in Turkey. The house was found in the 19th century by following the depictions in the announced dreams of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich, a Roman Catholic religious woman and visionary, which were distributed as a book by Clemens Brentano after her death. While the Catholic Church has never articulated in support or against the legitimacy of the house, it by the by has kept up a relentless stream of journey since its revelation.
Anne Catherine Emmerich was Beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 2004. Catholic explorers visit the house dependent on the conviction that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the rest of her natural life. The hallowed place has justified a few ecclesiastical Apostolic Blessings and visits from a few popes, the soonest journey originating from Pope Leo XIII in 1896, and the latest in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI.
