About Hopa
Hopa is a city and region of Artvin Province in upper east Turkey. It is situated on the eastern Turkish Black Sea drift around 67 km from the city of Artvin and 18 kilometers from the fringe with Georgia. Hopa is on the Black Sea Coast 65 km from Artvin and 18 km from the Sarp outskirt crossing on the Georgian fringe. The land ascends strongly from 10m above ocean level in the waterfront territories up into the Sultan Selim Mountains, the slopes are very much watered and green with birch, chestnuts, hornbeams and different deciduous trees. The most astounding point is Mt Yavuz Sultan Selim at 1513 m.
The atmosphere is mellow and wet, albeit just July and August are sufficiently warm to be called summer. The economy depends on exchange, angling and horticulture, generally tea, nuts particularly Hazelnuts and kiwifruit. There are two tea processing plants, the Black Sea Copper Works, a Thermal Power Plant, the Hopa port and the Hopa Vocational School. It has guide transport associations with Trabzon, Rize, Artvin, Ardahan, Kars, Erzurum and Sarp which go ahead to Georgia. The Sarp outskirt entryway was opened on 31 August 1988 with the "Global Road Transport Agreement" between Soviet Union and Turkey and gave a major lift to Hopa in exchange and tourism. The Hopa Port is overseen by an exclusive organization Hopa Limani and is dynamic in global exchange.
