Green Mosque of Iznik is a historic Ottoman mosque in Iznik, Turkey. One of the earliest examples of Ottoman architecture, the Yesil Mosque was constructed by order of the Grand Vizier Candarla Kara Halil Hayreddin Pasha of Sultan Murad I in Iznik. It was later finished by his child Ali Pasha. The engraving on the mosque gives the date of development as AH 780-794, and the name of the designer as Haci container Musa. The Yesil Mosque is situated close to the Lefke Gate on the eastern edge of the city.
It is made out of a three-straight patio and a solitary supplication corridor secured with a solitary vault estimating 10.5 m in distance across. The stature of the arch is 17.5 m over the floor, it has four windows and the lower segment of the inside dividers are covered with dark marble boards. The mosque has a solitary minaret in the northwestern corner of the building which is beautified with formed coated earthenware green, yellow, turquoise and dim purple shaded tiles. The brilliant tiles minaret gives the mosque its name: Yesil.
