Gordes

Gordes is a metropolis and district of Manisa Province in the Aegean place of Turkey. According to the 2000 census, population of the district is 38,110 of which 10,809 stay within the metropolis of Gordes. The district covers an area of 947 km2, and the metropolis lies at an elevation of 578 m. Gordes has been held by means of the Persians, Macedonians, Roman and Byzantine empires, and in 1071AD passed to the Turks. Gordes is one of the handmade Turkish carpet production facilities in Manisa.
