About Dortyol
Dortyol is a city in Hatay Province, Turkey. It is a port city and oil end found 26 km north of the city of Iskenderun, close to the easternmost purpose of the Mediterranean at the leader of the Gulf of Iskenderun. This intersection has seen the section of ious armed forces and probably the greatest military crusades ever, including the fight between Alexander the Great and Darius in 333 BC. In 1895 the Armenians of Chorkmarzban opposed the Hamidian Massacres. In 1909 amid the Adana Massacre the Armenians of Dortyol or Chorkmarzban opposed the slaughters once more, however expansive numbers died. From 1919-1921 the Armenians again opposed the Armenian Genocide, however were totally eradicated.
After the French and Turks conceded to the Syrian-Turkish fringe, Dortyol fell on the Turkish side and the surviving Armenians fled to Alexandretta, Aleppo, and Amman. All the more as of late Dortyol is recalled in Turkey as the scene of the main battling in the Turkish War of Independence. The battling with the involving powers was touched off in Karakese which is situated on the edge of the Nur mountains town. In 1918 Dortyol was involved by French troops. Turks in the region withdrew to the slopes and started their obstruction under the administration of Kara Hasan Pasha. Dortyol was in this way not part of the Republic of Hatay but rather was a Turkish area added to Hatay when the territory was brought into the Turkish republic in 1939.
