About Ceyhan
Ceyhan is a city and an area in the Adana Province, in southern Turkey, 43 km east of Adana. With a populace of more than 157,000, it is the biggest area of the region, outside the city of Adana. Ceyhan is the transportation center point for Middle Eastern, Central Asian and Russian oil and gaseous petrol. The city is arranged on the Ceyhan River that courses through Cukurova plain. The Ceyhan River is dammed at Aslantas to give surge control and water system to the lower waterway bowl around Ceyhan.
Ceyhan's marine transport terminal is the Mediterranean end of the Baku– Tbilisi– Ceyhan pipeline the "BTC" which brings unrefined petroleum from the landlocked Caspian Sea crosswise over Azerbaijan and Georgia, and entering Turkey in the upper east. The pipeline was finished in May 2005. The terminal contains seven stockpiling tanks, a breakwater equipped for stacking two tankers of up to 300,000 tons deadweight DWT all the while, metering offices, a waste water treatment plant and vapor cremation "consume off" offices.
Spots of intrigue:
- The Caravanserai of Kurtkulagi- worked in 1659 by Huseyin Pasa, designer Mehmed Aga.
- Tumlu Kale or Dumlukale - another manor.
- Sirkeli Hoyuk - worked to honor a fight here between Hittite ruler Muvattali and the Egyptian pharaoh Rameses.
