About Bitlis
Bitlis is a city in eastern Turkey and the capital of Bitlis Province. The city is situated at a rise of 15 km from Lake Van, in the precarious sided valley of the Bitlis River, a tributary of the Tigris. The nearby economy is chiefly founded on rural items which incorporate natural products, grain and tobacco. Industry is genuinely restricted, and bargains for the most part with leatherworking, fabricate of tobacco items and in addition weaving and coloring of coarse material. Bitlis is associated with other urban focuses by street, including Tatvan on Lake Van, 25 km toward the upper east, and the urban areas of Mus, 100 km northwest, and Diyarbakır, 200 km toward the west. The atmosphere of Bitlis can be unforgiving, with long winters and substantial snowfalls. Summers are sweltering, and regularly damp.
The starting point of the name Bitlis isn't known. A mainstream society derivation clarification, without recorded premise, is that it is gotten from "Lis/Batlis", the name of a general said to have fabricated Bitlis manor by the request of Alexander the Great. To Armenians, it was known as Balalesa or Baghaghesh, and later Baghesh. According to one prominent Armenian people story, on a cool, snowy day a jackass left its stable and meandered down the valley beneath. The jackass kicked the bucket of the frigid temperatures and was just found in the spring, when the ice had liquefied; hence, it got the name Pagh Esh, or "Cool Donkey."
