About Bartin
Bartin is a city in the northern Turkey and the focal region of the region of Bartın. Some time ago a locale of Zonguldak Province, Bartın has been made into a territory situate in 1991 with the constitution of its region, including four regions: Central Bartın, Amasra, Kurucasile, and Ulus. The city with a populace of 48,000, is arranged 14 kilometers inland on the Bartin River that is safe for vessels between the city and the Black Sea drift. Bartin River is the main traversable waterway for vessels in Turkey. The historical backdrop of the antique Parthenios city goes back to 1200 BC, when its zone was occupied by the Gasgas clan.
In the next century, the locale had entered under the predominance of Hittites, Phrygians, Cimmerians, Lydians, Greeks, Persians and Macedonians. Afterward, it was a piece of the Roman Empire and afterward of the Byzantine Empire, until the point that it tumbled to the Seljuk Turks and the Candarogullari State between the 11th and the 13th century AD. Bartin was vanquished by the Ottoman sultan Bayezid I in 1392. In the late 19th and mid 20th century, Bartin was a piece of the Kastamonu Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire.
