About Balikesir
Balikesir is the capital city of Balikesir Province. Balikesir is in the Marmara area of Turkey and has a populace of 331,788 occupants. Between 1341– 1922, it was the capital of Karasi. Near present day Balıkesir was the Roman town of Hadrianutherae, established, as its name honors, by the ruler Hadrian. Hadrian went to the area in A.D. because of an effective bear chasing he had set up a city called his own name here. It is evaluated that the city comprised of the stronghold, the estate, the stud and a couple of homes. It is felt that the residential community was where to be present. Members of the Roman and Pre-Byzantine administration had utilized this château as an excursion zone and for chasing.
Amid Byzantine period, the residential area which had turned out to be progressively disregarded was known as Palaeokastron which means Old Castle. Additionally, when the Turkmens originated from Middle Asia to Mysia, they called it Balak Hisar in view of the remaining parts of palace, as Hisar is the Turkish word for manor. In 1345, Balikesir city was attached by the Ottomans. In 1897 a seismic tremor demolished a significant part of the city. In 1914, Turkish understudies walked through the avenues of the city singing a melody of disdain against the Greeks. In April 1916, the Christian displaced people of the towns in the region of Balikesser experienced mistreatment from the Turks.
