About Amasya Castle

Amasya Castle, a.k.a. Harsene Castle, is a stronghold situated in Amasya, northern Turkey. The manor is found north of Amasya and the waterway Yesilirmak on the precarious rocks called Mount Harsene. It was assaulted, demolished, changed hand and re-established commonly in the history amid the Persian, Roman, Pontic and Byzantine time. The mansion was seriously demolished amid the fights between the Romans and Pontics. It was significantly reestablished after the success of Amasya by the Ottomans in 1075, and stayed being used until the point when the eighteenth century when it lost its military importance.

The palace has eight-level cautious emplacements outside the stronghold down to the Yesil?rmak bank. The best level fortress is developed in ashlar stone work while the cautious dividers are made of rubble brick work. Named "Cilanbolu", a stone cut exhibition is arranged amidst the mansion. The underground stairway in 181 m 594 ft length, with 8 m 26 ft distance across having 150 stages leads descending. Drawback of the palace, vestiges of a bastion and a mosque are arranged.

On the southern slope, there are remnants of the "Kizlar Sarayi" truly: the Maidens' Palace utilized amid the Ottoman time frame. At around 20– 25 m 66– 82 ft tallness, 18 of all shapes and sizes tombs of the Pontic lords from the third century BC are cut in limestone shake on a plain divider. The manor has four doors, named "Helkis", "Saray", "Maydonos" and "Meydan". It incorporates cells, a reservoir and a well.
