About Alsancak
Alsancak is a midway arranged substantial quarter in Izmir, Turkey, inside the limits of the metropolitan region of Konak, the noteworthy focus of the city. As a notional zone, Alsancak reaches out from along the tip of the southern shores of the Gulf of Izmir, beginning close to Izmir's notable square that conveys indistinguishable name from the area with the nineteenth century-assembled Pasaport Quai denoting the point, and stretching out along a 3200-meter-long shoreline road and promenade called "Kordon" and to join the neighboring metropolitan region of Bornova, found eastwards and at the simple end of the Gulf's waters.
Inside this bigger and notional zone of Alsancak, beside the authoritatively organized and delimited quarter of Alsancak legitimate, the five neighboring quarters of Umurbey, Kultur, Mimar Sinan, Ismet Kaptan and Akdeniz are found along the shore, and the entire is for the most part alluded to as being a piece of a similar complex. In Ottoman occasions, the zone was named "La Punta", an Italian word signifying "the cape"; the name refered to as La Pointe in French sources or in sources that acquire from them, and was the piece of the city where the upper white collar class was concentrated.
