About Surin
Surin is a town in Thailand, capital of Surin district, 431 km east-upper east of Bangkok. It is the site of the yearly Surin Elephant Round-up. The underlying section of the name Sur-begins from the Sanskrit word Sura ,and the second part – in thara from Sanskrit is "Indra". Therefore the name of the zone really infers Lord Indra. The Monument of Phaya Surin Phakdi Si Narong Changwang Pum. This is a statue of Surin's ordinary coordinator and first pioneer, Phaya Surin. The dull, metal statue is 2.2 meters high, and was committed in 1968.
The statue is arranged at the southern access to the city, at what is directly an essential development circuitous, yet was already, the interior mass of the city. Pum stays on a high plinth, and is depicted holding a curve bleeding edge pike in his right hand. This is a standard contraption used to control an elephant. Surin Jasmine Rice and Silk Cloth Fair. Held every January, the Fair features difficulties of green things, silk material, and presentations from regulatory institutions. A light and sound show which delineates the legends of Thai elephants. Held each year in the second multi day stretch of November.
