Khao Khitchakut Mountain is located inside the Khao Khitchakut National Park. The park is situated in the north of Chanthaburi province. It was labeled as a National Park on 4th May 1977. It is the 14th National Park of Thailand. This hilly park covers an area of about 59 square km. It is one of the smallest parks of Thailand. Khao Probad is the tallest mountain in the park which is 1085m high. This park works like a watershed area for Chanthaburi province. The climatic condition of this park is quite healthy. It has got cool weather all year round. November to January is the most popular period for visiting the park. Though the park is not very big in size yet it houses a wonderful iety of Flora and Fauna like elephant, gaur, sambar, bear, and barking deer, sparrow, and different species of birds The Buddhas footprint on Khao Khitchakut Mountain is believed to be very sacred by the religious people. People from different parts of the country assemble here to pay respect to the Buddhas footprint on the exorbitant mountain peak of Khao Khitchakut. People believe that going on a pilgrimage to the Buddhas footprint is equal to come into view of the Lord himself. It is regarded as an immense estimable deed. As a result of this, every year thousands of people visit the peak of Khao Khitchakut. The greenery of Khao Khitchakut national park is eye catching. People who are fond of watching waterfall must not miss to visit the three astounding falls here known as Klong Kra-ting, Chang Se, and Klong Kra-sue in the middle of picturesque landscape. According to the believers, paying respect to the footprint of Lord Buddha is the definitive way to achieve good deeds and proceed in strength of mind despite all other problems. One has to take a four-wheel pickup from the starting point at Phluang temple, to move through a steep eight-kilometer route. Then, another walk for 1.2 kilometers will be needed to reach at the exact location. On the top of the mountain, there are numerous geological phenomena related to Buddhist myths like the hermit cave, the bowl shape stone in an upside down position-, the stone pagoda, Indras motor racing tracks, along with huge stones appearing like an elephant or a turtle. Do not miss to look down on Chanthaburi from the breezy peak.
