About Fort Zeelandia
Fort Zeelandia was a fortress built more than ten years in the town of Anping on the island of Formosa in introduce day Taiwan, during their 38-year manage over the western piece of that island. The present site has been renamed a few times to Orange City, Anping City, and Taiwan City; the present name of the site in Chinese is Anping Fort. During the seventeenth century, when Europeans from numerous nations cruised to Asia to create exchange, Formosa ended up one of East Asia's most critical travel destinations. As exchange at the time relied upon "military power to control the business sectors", the estimation of Formosa to the Dutch was for the most part in its vital position.
From Formosa the Spanish trade amongst Manila and China, and the Portuguese business amongst Macao and Japan could by consistent assaults be made so unstable that quite a bit of it would be tossed under the control of the Dutch, while the last's dealings with China and Japan would be liable to no interferences. There were three layers of divider, and a jutting bastion on every one of four corners on Fort Zeelandia, to grow the barrier scope; this is the ordinary European fortification of the seventeenth century. Inside the fortification was the military and organization focus, church, armies, and jailhouse; outside was the downtown.
