About Bimaristan Argun Founding Plaque
The bimaristan, or healing facility, of Nur al-Din Zangi in Aleppo is situated in the old city of Aleppo in the zone south of the primary suq. It was built between 1148-1155/453-549 AH amid the rule of Nur al-Din Mahmud ibn Zangi. Almost no of the first building stays past parts of its passage entryway, including the door jamb, engraving plaque and part of the veneer in the city.
A significant part of whatever is left of the building has been remodeled and remade throughout the hundreds of years. The passage entry appears as a recessed iwan with seats flanking either side of the entryway. Confining the entryway is a crisscross trim framed via cut half circles in rotation with triangles. A diminishing curve surmounts the entryway or more this curve is an engraving plaque. The first vault of the little iwan has been supplanted.
