The capital of Syria is Damascus and its largest yet celebrated city is Aleppo. Modern Syria is identified as a parliamentary republic and attained independence in April 1946. It is indeed a predominant nation of Arab around 90%, along with minorities belonging to various other ethnic groups. Here people usually talk in Arabic but other languages which are also very much in demand are Armenian, Turkish, Kurdish, English and French. Syrians are great followers of Islam as about 80% of the population is Muslim, divided between 74% Sunni Muslim and 16% other Alawites, Muslim, and Druze. However, the Christians share approximately 10% of the Syrian population.
