About Weissenau Castle
Weissenau Castle is a ruins palace in the city of Untertjan Municipality in Bern Canton, Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national importance. The castle was first mentioned in the historical record as Castroist Viseno in 1298. It is not clear whether it was made by the Lord of Lords of Rotenburg Unspoon, or the Freezer of Weissenau either made by the Vicenou family. The center of their wealth. The palace was built which was in the Thun lake at the mouth of the Aare River. In the middle centuries, the waterway became calm and the island was connected to the shore.
Wideen's market town grew from palace to channel and was connected to the castle by a bridge in 1362. Around the year 1334, Bice joined the other noble nobles of Weissenau in a war against the growing power of the city. After the defeat of the nobles, Vesenau was forced to sell the palace and Videen to Interlaken Abbey to pay his debt. In 1365, Abe shifted weekly markets and annual fairs away from Widen and into the village of Ermuhle which is now Interlaken. Losing the market witen was destroyed and it started decreasing.
In 1528, the city of Berne embraced the new faith of Protestant Reformation and started imposing it on Bernis Oberland. Abhay and his village joined a failed rebellion against new faith. Burning his will to Oberland, he saved the Abbey and removed all Abbey land. Vicenou Castle and Little Village of Weiden became part of Interlaken's Barnes Belwick. The palace was used as a prison in the 16th century, but he began to fall into disarray and finally collapsed. In 1655 and again in 1700, Belvic planned to renovate and repair the palace. However, neither the plan was implemented.
