Spalentor
About Spalentor
Dating from 1370, the Spalentor is a strengthened entryway denoting the finish of the old town.
The town door, once part of the old town dividers, has remained solitary since their annihilation in 1866.
Look to one side of the door to locate a mid-nineteenth century letterbox with the symbol of the Basel pigeon.
The contiguous Peterskirche St. Dwindle's congregation was revamped in the fifteenth century, however, the vaulting in the choir is from a prior fourteenth-century building.
There are frescoes in the Eberler house of prayer and the nave. Nearby is the college, with its botanical garden.
