About Rheinfelden
Rheinfelden is a municipality in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland, seat of the district of Rheinfelden. It is placed 15 kilometres east of Basel. The name means the fields of the Rhine, because the town is located at the Hochrhein. It is domestic to Feldschlosschen, the most famous beer in Switzerland. The town is across the river from Rheinfelden in Baden-Wurttemberg; the two towns had been joined until Napoleon Bonaparte fixed the German–Swiss border at the Rhine in 1802 and are nevertheless socially and economically tied.
The area round Rheinfelden became already settled inside the Middle Stone Age, round 10,000 years before the present day. At that point, human beings lived inside the "Hermitage", a small natural cave subsequent to the modern-day dual carriageway. In the year 45 BC, some kilometres in addition west, the agreement Augusta Raurica become founded, the first Roman city in Switzerland, near cutting-edge Kaiseraugst.
