Oftringen

Oftringen is a municipality inside the district of Zofingen in the canton of Aargau in Switzerland. The earliest hint of human habitation close to Oftringen is scattered mesolithic technology finds. A Roman technology farm at the intersection of roads and scattered Alamanni settlements have additionally been found. The modern-day municipality of Oftringen is first mentioned in 924 as Ofteringa.

The village was beneath the Herschaft of the Counts of Frohburg from the Middle Ages till 1299, after they got here beneath Habsburg authority. Following the Bernese conquest of the Aargau in 1415 it belonged to the Amt or township of Aarburg. It remained a part of Bern until 1798.
