About Nafels
Nafels is a former municipality inside the canton of Glarus in Switzerland. Effective from 1 January 2011, Nafels is part of the municipality of Glarus Nord. Nafels is first mentioned in 1240 as Nevels. In 1388, the Swiss Confederates beat the Habsburgs at the Battle of Nafels, a victory that proved to be decisive in the collection of Swiss-Austrian conflicts that stretched through maximum of the 14th Century as, in 1389, a peace treaty turned into signed at Vienna.
The losses have been much higher at the Austrian aspect, with 2,500 Austrians killed and 54 Swiss. The city's Slachtkapelle became created as a memorial to the men who fell in conflict, and the Nafelser Fahrt, a pilgrimage to the web page of the battle, has been held in April each year since the war. Their density enables interplay among human beings, government organizations and groups, sometimes benefiting extraordinary events in the technique. This is very beautiful town.
