Cabinet Cantonal des Medailles

The Cantonal Monetary Museum CMM, one of the eight museums of the canton, depends on the Department of Training, Youth and Culture, Department of Cultural Affairs. It holds nearly 100,000 monetary objects and more than 20,000 printed matter. About 1,400 coins and medals and 600 prints are acquired annually.

The principal missions of the MMC are first to accept in deposit the treasures and monetary finds Vaudois. It can also acquire by purchase or donations heritage and foreign parts of the regional heritage.

The MMC then studies the collections to form reasoned catalogs of the monetary types. He analyzes treasures and finds to determine monetary usage at different periods of our history.
