Bundner Kunstmuseum
About Bundner Kunstmuseum
A shell of coffered concrete factors surrounds the extension of the Bundner Kunstmuseum in Chur, Switzerland. Resting on a clean pedestal, it offers the closed facade depth and structure. From the Villa Planta, which has served as a museum since 1919, the new creation of Barozzi Veiga maintains a respectful distance. The reality that both homes are related underground is not seen from the outdoor.
Despite all the variations and the clear references to the respective building time, the houses also have similarities. Both within the villa and within the extension, the entrance sits within the middle, there may be a basement ground of the identical height, and the floor plans are both compact in structure and in large part dependent in their shape axisymmetric.
The old constructing become designed between 1874 and 1875 through the architect Johannes Ludwig as a marvelous residence for a cotton industrialist who had lived in Egypt for many years. In the design Ludwig oriented himself each to patterns from the Middle East, in addition to to Palladio, which is proven, inter alia, on the portal, the Barozzi Veiga took over for their extension in an abstract shape.
