Bern Bridge
About Bern Bridge
The Bern Bridge is a covered wooden bridge on the Sarine, located in the canton of Friborg, Switzerland. Built in 1250, a century after the establishment of the city, it is one of the oldest in Switzerland. Over the centuries, it has been renovated regularly, nowadays the last covered wooden bridge of Freiburg. Center stacks, stones, dates from the 17th century, as well as the Tuff Arch on the south, which is now filled with earth.
In 1838, the bridge was defended by a fly-by-tower, which was open in the ramparts of Lo-Town. This bridge has been part of the 1995 list of cultural property of national importance in the Canton of Friborg. Burn Bridge is one of the five bridges of the Lower Town of Freiburg. It is in the preceding part of the Moto bridge, which is in St. John and the middle, it flows beneath Zehrigen. It is a short distance from the Gotron Bridge, which stretches to the valley of this name. Gatoron is located some meters away from Sarin after the Bern Bridge.
