Sofiero Palace
About Sofiero Palace
Sofiero Palace or simply Sofiero in Helsingborg Municipality, Scania turned into one of the Swedish royal family's United States of America mansions, positioned 5 kilometres north of Helsingborg. It turned into at the beginning a Scanian farm referred to as Skabelycke, sold in 1864 by means of Prince Oscar of Sweden and his spouse Sophia of Nassau.
The first one-story palace was finished in 1865. It became improved to its contemporary size among 1874 and 1876, after Prince Oscar have been crowned King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway. In 1905, Oscar II's grandson Prince Gustaf Adolf, future King Gustaf VI Adolf, and his wife, crown princess Margaret obtained the palace as a wedding present. They renovated the palace and commenced the large Rhododendron lawn for which the palace is understood nowadays. Prince Gustaf Adolf emerge as king in 1950 and until 1973 Sofiero was his and his 2nd spouse Lady Louise Mountbatten's professional summer season house. It become supposedly the King's preferred area and upon his dying, which passed off in Helsingborg, he left Sofiero to the metropolis of Helsingborg in order that most people could enjoy it as a good deal as he had.
