About Skyttorp
Skyttorp is a densely populated area along the East Coast Line , 30 km north of Uppsala along road 290 towards Osterbybruk, in the northern part of Uppsala municipality . The name Skyttorp probably comes from the 17th century when a person called Mats Skytt was employed as a hunter at Salsta. Mats Skytt lived in a village called Skyttorps farm. The railway came to Skyttorp in 1874 with a shift track for the loading of forest products. The present station house was completed in 1898 to accommodate all travelers from surrounding countryside, and is privately owned property since 1975.
The platforms for the Upptaget and the new, larger bus stop were completed in the early 1990s. Here is a sports club with its own club room, Skyttorps IF , football field and light rail tracks . Skyttorp has public transport to Uppsala, Gävle, Tierp and Osterbybruk. The train from and to Uppsala stops in Skyttorp. UL - bus number 823 which runs between Uppsala - Osterbybruk stops at the station.
