About Oresund Bridge
The Oresund or Oresund Bridge is a mixed railway and highway bridge throughout the oresund strait between Sweden and Denmark. The bridge runs almost eight kilometres from the Swedish coast to the artificial island Peberholm in the middle of the strait. The crossing is completed by means of the 4-kilometre Drogden Tunnel from Peberholm to the Danish island of Amager. The concept of a bridge over the Oresund was first officially proposed in 1936 through a consortium of engineering companies who proposed a country wide highway network for Denmark.
