About Marinmuseum
Marinmuseum is a maritime museum located on Stumholmen island, in Karlskrona. It is Sweden's national naval museum, devoted to the Swedish naval protection and protection of the country's naval records. Marinmuseum is one of Sweden's oldest museums.
The museum was set up in 1752 while King Adolf Frederick started out the collection and documentation of naval items in what turned into known as the Model Room. He also ordered the upkeep of deliver models and shipbuilding machinery. During the length of 1953 through 1997, the museum changed into situated in the barracks of the Örlogshamnen naval harbor. Prior to 1963, it was known as the Shipyard Museum. In the 1960s, ten figureheads created by Johan Tornstrom had been added to the museum. Since June 1997, the museum has been housed on the island of Stumholmen in important Karlskrona. The Statens Maritima Museer corporation oversees the operations of the Marinmuseum, as well as Stockholm's Vasa Museum and the Maritime Museum.
