About Malmo Art Museum
Founded in 1841, the Malmö Art Museum is one of the main artwork museums in Scandinavia. The museum constructing, constructed in 1937, is positioned in the Malmo Castle complex in Malmo, Scania, in southern Sweden. The museum is ruled with the aid of the City of Malmo. The museum homes a first-rate collections of Nordic current and modern artwork, now containing approximately 40,000 works, covering the period from the 16th century to the present day.
The museum hosts several crucial collections and historical donations, which includes the works of Carl Fredrik Hill 1849 to 1911. The Herman Gotthardt Collection of Nordic current twentieth-century art is an important contribution to the expertise of the early manufacturing of Scandinavian modern artwork. Also within the museum´s holdings is a unique collection of Russian fin-de-siecle artwork, obtained on the famous Baltic Exhibition in Malmo in 1914. The museum has an intensive collection of furniture and handicraft, typically from southern Sweden.The permanent exhibition "From 1500 till Now" shows the ancient development and the super variety in Sweden and north Europe of portray, sculpture and applied arts from the Renaissance through to Art Nouveau and as much as the cutting-edge.
