About Kristine Church
Kristine Church is the parish church of Falu Kristine inside the Diocese of Vasteras of the Church of Sweden in Falun. Construction of the Kristine Church commenced in 1642 and it become prepared for use in 1655 below the name of The New Church of Falun. One of the instigators of constructing the church, County Governor Johan Berndes, had chosen the call Kristine Church as an hommage to Queen Christina in 1651 but the name needed to be altered after the queen abdicated and transformed to Catholicism in 1654.
The name Kristine Church turned into reintroduced at some point of the late 1700s. The tower turned into constructed for the duration of the years 1658 to 1660. The bricks of which the church became constructed had been home made in Rankhyttan, 25 kilometers from Falun. Limestone for the pillars of the church become taken from Rattvik. The indoors was substantially altered by using the recovery in 1905: A new organ and organ balcony were constructed. The enclosed pews had been exchanged for open ones.The doors of the old pews in addition to the endpieces were used as panelling across the walls.
