About Kalmar Castle

During the 12th century a round guarded pinnacle was based on Kalmarsund and a harbor developed. Toward the finish of the 13th century King Magnus Ladulas had another stronghold worked with a drape divider, round corner towers and two square gatehouses encompassing the first pinnacle. Situated close to the site of Kalmar's medieval harbor, it has had a critical impact in Swedish history since its underlying development as a sustained pinnacle in the 12th century.

One of the most noteworthy political occasions in Scandinavia occurred at Kalmar Castle in 1397, when the Kalmar Union was framed - an association of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden counting Finland, sorted out by Queen Margaret I of Denmark.
