About Gothenburg Museum of Natural History

The Natural History Museum Göteborgs naturhistoriska exhibition hall is itself something of a look at history since it's the most seasoned historical center in Gothenburg, established in 1833.

The historical center has an enormous gathering of more than 10 million creatures of all sizes.

However, the principle fascination is the "Malm Whale"— a huge blue whale named after Mr. A.W. Malm, who was working at the exhibition hall in October 1865 when a blue whale stalled out in the Askim Bay.

It was slaughtered by local people and transported to one of the shipyards in the Port of Gothenburg, where the skin was evacuated and a substantial wooden skeleton was made to extend the skin over. It was then transported to the exhibition hall.

The inside of the whale the skin extended over the skeleton was enriched with a couch and printed backdrop. You can even enter through the mouth, however, it's not generally open.
