Drottningholm
About Drottningholm
Drottningholm, literally "Queen's Islet", is a locality located in Ekero Municipality, Stockholm County, Sweden, with 398 population in 2010. It is situated on the island Lovon in lake Mälaren on the outskirts of Stockholm. Drottningholm Palace, the residence of the Swedish Royal Family in view that 1981, is placed here. The village become planned and built inside the mid 18th century for the humans operating at the palace. It is a good example of how a Swedish village might have appeared like in the 18th and 19th centuries, containing many picturesque homes and villas.
Drottningholm is out there with public delivery by means of taking the metro to Brommaplan, then an Ekero-certain SL bus. Drottningholm lent its call to the S/S Drottningholm, later used as a mercy deliver throughout World War II used for the repatriation of diplomats, civilians and prisoners of conflict between Germany, the UK and the USA. Returned British squaddies on board, no longer knowing the which means of the Swedish name, rendered it as "Trotting Home".
