About Altappen
Altappen and Likskar are islands in the northwest of the Swedish quarter of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Luleå archipelago, which have joined due to submit-glacial rebound to turn out to be a single island. Altappen lies to the southeast of the town of Lulea, about 1 kilometre from the mainland fishing village of Lovskar. In the winter it may be reached thru an ice street. Altappen turned into as soon as the place of a huge sawmill, but a prime fireplace in 1908 destroyed the turbines and houses, which were never rebuilt. The simplest building that has survived is the Byggmastarvillan.
With the growing land due to publish-glacial rebound, the islands of Altappen and Likskar or Liggskar to the southeast have joined to form a unmarried island. Likskar consists of sand, with lengthy, shallow-water seashores. The nearby yacht club, Lulea Segelsallskap, has a clubhouse on Likskara The yacht membership facility can accommodate 40 traveling boats, and has a restaurant and sauna which might be open to the general public. The clubhouse is the bottom for keel boat racing, and attracts sailors from different elements of Sweden and from overseas.
