Eureka research base on Canada's far-northern Ellesmere Island, was established as a weather station in 1947 and boasts an average annual temperature of around ?20 deg. cel. which goes down to -40 deg. cel in winters. To get here, you have to fly in from Resolute, which is an expensive affair indeed.
