In a time when families are getting smaller, Ziona Chana feels blessed to have more than three dozen wives, nearly a ton of children, 14 daughters-in-law, and 33 grandkids. He is heads the world's biggest family which consists of a total of 181 members. The whole family lives together in a mansion having 100 rooms, located in the beautiful hills of Baktwang, a small village in state of Mizoram in north-east India.
In order to maintain peace and harmony within the family, the members live a strict disciplined life. The responsibility of distributing the household chores rests with Zathiangi, the oldest wife of Ziona. She organizes all the tasks that the other wives of Ziona need to perform including, preparing meals, cleaning and washing. It is quite common for the ladies in the Ziona household to pluck no less than 30 full chicken, boil 220lb of rice and peel single meal 132lb of potatoes to prepare a single meal.
As for the sleeping arrangements, Ziona has a double bedded room to himself which he shares with each of his wives on a rotational basis. The other wives sleep in a giant communal dormitory located within the mansion. Ziona keeps the younger wives closer to his bedroom while the older ones sleep further away. According to one of his wives, Rinkmini, Ziona is the center of their universe and the most handsome man in the village. His other wife, Huntharnghanki claims that the reason that the family gets along so well is because it is based on mutual love and respect.
Ziona, who heads a special sect that allows its male members to take on as many wives as they like, feels that he has been specially blessed by God to be able to look after so many people. He married as many as ten women in a single year and has still not stopped looking for new wives. His sect currently comprises of 400 members and Ziona is even willing to go abroad in search of a wife to expand his sect.
